Discovering the Tiny Wonders of Nature: My Macro Photography Journey

Today was a completely new experience for me — my first time shooting insects and mushrooms deep inside the forest, together with YL Camera and OM SYSTEM Malaysia.

I’ve spent so many years photographing weddings, portraits, lifestyle scenes, events, and close-up still life images for stock photography.

But stepping into the forest with a macro lens opened up a whole new world that felt so different from everything I’ve known.

Out here, every subject is tiny, fragile, and hidden.

It’s not just about photography skills — it’s about training your eyes to see what most people walk past, having the patience to wait for the right moment, the steady hands to hold your shot, and even strong knees to keep squatting without giving up (I honestly felt my knees giving up after a while 😅).

It also takes a bit of luck — to stumble upon that one perfect mushroom, that one shy little spider sitting just at the right spot.

This experience reminded me why I keep pushing myself to try new things.

Photography isn’t only about mastering one style — it’s about staying curious, feeling inspired, and seeing the beauty in places you’ve never looked before.

I’m truly grateful for today, and excited to keep discovering more — one step, one shot at a time. 🌿🕷🍄
